About The Artwork

The Wall: Fragments is for those who want to have a two-dimensional part of The Wall: Multilateral series, it is more sheep. This artwork is made in a silkscreen or printed series. What/who inspired the work? The reflection on armed conflicts throughout history. Which are solved with political and economic treaties; always hidden behind armed takeovers in confronted countries. What do you expect the viewer to feel/think? I choose paper and pencil for its symbolic value as a metaphor for the signing of treaties, to make the viewer feel the fragility of the materials but the symbolic strength in them. In order to create an aesthetic connection to further reflect on the true political and economic ends of armed conflicts. Why did you choose the medium, the theme or the style? Installation of the expanded drawing on the walls, homologating a mandala of reflections. The paper as a support for all the treaties in the different conflicts, the pencil as an object of symbolic value for the human being and a means to write and sign them.

I studied Visual Arts at the Academia Superior de Arte de Bogotá ASAB - Universidad Distrital de Colombia, where I explored different techniques. From drawing, animation, video and painting in which I find a way from which to question and establish a relationship on issues that interest me as memory, social and armed conflict in Colombia and the world. My constant interest in questioning issues such as violence, politics, power and treaties, have resulted in projects such as: The Most Powerful Weapon or Contemporary Landscapes where I question the conflict and its handling in the media. In addition to the reflection on the way we are building history, memory, sociology. I propose from my work a critique of power and politics that coexist in mutual benefit as a supposed status quo. Creating a reflection with everyday objects, using metaphors of archetypes in humanity such as education and art. Complementing the central structures in my technical creation and visual concepts in each work. Achieving a semiological and contextual reflection in my work as an artist.
