About The Artwork

This etching was printed by hand thus without a printing press. Thereby it is a unique print and shows natural irregularities. It reads (4/4) because it is part of a series or edition of 4 prints, each of these 4 prints is different in color and visual. Printed on Hahnemühle paper. Two plates are printed next to each other like the pages of a book. When reading ancient classical greek mythologies the concept of "Tartarus" kept fascinating and inspiring me, it is both a deity and a place. https://jasmingenzel.com "Jasmin Genzel works on a visual atlas composed by minimal gestures, where subtracting has more importance than the posing and placing. ‘By force of uplifting’ could be the title of this introduction and in general to her work (…). It is the ridge between thinking and acting that her work communicates and evokes (…)" by Benedetta Cestelli Guidi, Roma October 2006. "Jasmin Genzel is not a member of a specific movement in art. She goes her own way. (...) Her works show the approach of the Arte Povera, Conceptual Art and maybe some ideas of Joseph Beuys. Jasmin Genzel is typically an artist with her roots in the late twentieth century. There are some interesting contradictions in her work. (...) It makes her works both poetical and philosophical.
