Signed, titled and numbered in pencil on the back of the print sent with a certificate of authenticity. Sold unframed. Image size: 40x40cm. Paper size: 43x43cm. Full colour, archival pigment fine art Giclée print on Hahnemühle Bamboo paper. This giclée print on paper is aligned with the Summer Solstice (Litha) which each year falls on or about 21st June (northern hemisphere)/21st December (southern hemisphere). It began as a pencil drawing that was then scanned into a computer and digitally manipulated. I hand draw on top of each print and therefore no two prints are exactly the same. A maximum of 10 prints will be printed using archive quality inks and paper. Litha the Summer Solstice is a celebration of the Sun, summer, and light. It is the longest day and shortest night of the year, and marks the union between the skies and the earth; between fire and water. The Litha sun god, also known as the Oak King, rules the light half of the year from the Winter Solstice to the Summer Solstice. Now, just as he is at the height of his powers, the Holly King of darkness is born; readying himself to rule through the cold nights of winter. At Litha, the fields are ripe with crops and the air if full of life-giving properties. Áine, the Celtic goddess of summer, wealth, love and fertility, who was born from the sea, is pregnant with life.
