landscape series Print

Laura Gamio is a printmaker who works with an array of mediums such as printing, textiles and watercolour. Her main line is based on memories created by the environment that surrounds us, how landscape can affect our actions and the female form. She does this by focusing on texture and colour as well as medium, using several forms of inspiration such as graphics, design and 'The Crafts'. Having lived in several different countries, this has directly influenced her art expression, as well as coming from a family of makers, where art has shown its form in different means such as photography, design, theatre and textiles. It has also boosted her interest in creating landscapes in order to create her own personal 'piece of land'. Laura attended COFA and received a Master's degree in Printmaking and Arts Management. She has a BFA Hons, majoring in Printmaking and Painting from University Finis Terrae, Santiago, Chile. Laura's work has been in exhibition both solo and collectively in Chile and Australia. Her work is also in private collections around the world. She is a member of The Prints Charming Collective, Sydney based printmakers collective that supports all forms of print as a skilled art form. She has worked in Galleries and Museums which have given her a broad approach and appreciation of different forms and approaches to art. Laura is currently living in Port Elizabeth, EC, South Africa, developing a new body of work, as a personal research engaging with the influence of her new environment.
