About The Artwork

plaster cast of clay head I sculpted, found wood, plastic hubcap, burlap, resin, string, gold leaf, red glitter, oil paint, gold spray paint, mod podge. approximately 3.5 to 4 feet in height. This was a sculpture I constructed to help ground myself through the most difficult time of illness I’ve experienced in years. I like to build shrines and I often decorate my home with religious imagery. Not because I am religious, but because I like the concept of believing in something. I don’t particularly believe in anything, but sometimes I like the idea of believing in things and there are times when I wish I had that sort of stability. For the last few months, I have been very ill and often I cannot eat or sleep. It often feels as though my body is giving up and shutting down and during that time I noticed that my belief in Nothing is the strongest. I believe in Nothing. I worship Nothing. I follow Nothing. Nothing helps me when I feel alone and lost. Nothing keeps me safe. Nothing gives me strength and the will to go on. Nothing waits for me in the afterlife. I am Nothing.

I’ve decided that all money I make through selling art will go towards getting top surgery. Like unless I am seriously hard up for cash, I’m going to be saving any money I make from art sales for top surgery. It’s going to take me a really long time to save up somewhere around $6000 since a lot of my paintings don’t sell but every little bit counts. Anyway, here's a brief "about me": Gianni Miquini Parabicoli is a 24 year old oil painter from Massachusetts whose main focus is surreal portrayals of the human figure. He has been using oil paints since 2006. He earned his Bachelors of Fine Arts degree with a major in Painting from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2014. In his spare time, Gianni plays the bass guitar and is an avid aquarium and reptile hobbyist.
