About The Artwork

This sculpture has been inspired by the stories of Kosovan women during wartime in 1999 in Kosovo. The sculpture represents both the strength, pain, and hope. The woman's naked and melancholic body is a symbol of pain as she collapses and tries to escape the sad war-time reality, but at the same time it symbolizes strength in protecting the child in a severely dangerous environment, and the child as the only hope to live for the woman.
