The Western Red Cedar in its natural state often smoothes to a pale pink—the grain flowing through the surface on its circular course. Some forms are complimented by such a finish and for others, like Form and Formless No.10, a wax finish may accent and fortify the shape and colour. The satin-amber surface reflects the lighting with a soft glow as the eyes are drawn across its undulating contours. The solid body gives this piece a weighty gravitational stability and moving upward the ribbon-like folds add a sense of lightness and elegance to the overall form. The deep recesses and openings invite exploration as the eyes journey in, around and about.
