About The Artwork
A man who has become a very dear friend contacted me throught the Web and asked me to help him find an artist in Mexico who could carve a marble angel for him to honor a departed colleague. We e-mailed back and forth for months, and weren't able to find anyone. I became drawn to the project, and finally said I could probably do it myself. In the end, I found myself near Chihuahua, Mexico, reading about shootings every day in the local papers, and carving faster than I ever have before. The place was magical, as were the people who surrounded me while I worked. In a place with so much violence, I was pleasantly surprised to see so many people taking so much joy out of a project like this one.
