Aztec Love Bone China Skull Sculpture

My mosaic skulls are made from vintage ceramics that I've collected over the years due to a passion for Mid-Century Modern designs influenced by space exploration, science, and new technologies. I'm particularly inspired by the playful patterns and bright colours that emerged during the 1950's post-war era, when interior design and decor became more optimistic, vibrant and fun. My artist's palette consists of retro crockery, coloured glass, vintage beads, buttons and mirror, that I combine to embellish and decorate discarded objects and turn them into beautiful, humorous and tactile sculptures. I use motifs and text to create narrative, which in turn enhances the character and individuality of each piece, rendering it unique and one of a kind.
