Barn Owl Cottonwood Chainsaw Carving Sculpture

Barn Owl Chainsaw Carving. Carved out of a hand selected Cottonwood log from the Missouri River Bottoms. I use logs that are already fallen and cured (I do not cut down any living trees). Mainly carved with two chainsaws- a larger one for blocking out the sculpture, and a smaller one for details. In addition to chainsaws, an angle grinder sander, hand-wood carving tools, and various small attachment rotary sanding/grinding tools used for finer detailing. Torched accents, tiny paint accents, and three coats of indoor/outdoor sealer applied. Nature inspires my work. I hope viewers get a warm, nostalgic feeling and appreciate the mysterious, magical qualities of the barn owl and the natural golden beauty of cottonwood when they view this sculpture.
