About The Artwork
This piece made by Ruben Marroquin was inspired by a collaboration with LA designer Kelly Wearstler. Birdman has been created in large format many times and this is one of the only small reproductions available. A medium-sized rendition lives in the Santa Monica Proper Hotel in Los Angeles, California. This petite piece is made of aluminum, linen, bamboo, and fine quality cotton and metallic threads.

Ruben Marroquin, (American Born, Venezuelan/Guatemalan) 1979, Visual artist, textile designer and weaving instructor. Ruben studied for two years at the Armando Reveron University Institute in Caracas, Venezuela, specializing in painting. Marroquin received a B.F.A. in Textile and Surface Design during which time he attended a semester at the École Nationale Supérieure de Création Industrielle (ENSCI, les Ateliers) in Paris, concentrating on weaving, through a student exchange program. Ruben's work participated in the Rijswijk's Museum's Textile Biennial 2015 and has collaborated with the Metropolitan Museum of Art in educational programs related to weaving and the fiber arts. Ruben lives and works in Brooklyn, NY
