The exhibition and its name was inspired by the text of Czeslaw Milosz entitled: Esse. Krzysztof Stala writes on the pages of Znak Publishing House "The touch and the shock of existence is the core of a lot of epiphanies created by Milosz. Esse is one of the variants of the poetic state of "being surprised with the world" that flows from the "sensual, carnal intensity of experiencing things in their externality and uniqueness, not in their secret or perfection." The experience of the intensity of being is rooted in Esse in the meeting with faces. A woman's face, accidently noticed in the subway, suddenly negates the outside world. Thanks to the experience of this face epiphany, the secondary reality of forms and representations is broken. Thanks to this explosion, we get the essence of the real being that comes from experiencing the individuality, the mystery and the absolute otherness of another Human Being." Presented sculptures and accompanying photographs are like notes from meetings with this otherness of another Human Being. Sometimes it takes just one gesture, tilting the head or the arm or just a barely noticeable smile to create this unique experience to be amazed with the world we live in. Sculpture is like a sentence stopped halfway which endlessly repeats a piece of information about one of the countless gestures that create our existence in time. It is our teacher of slowing down. It invites us to stop for a moment and contemplate what it actually means TO BE.

I am a sculptor and a museum curator. I specialize in large ceramic sculptures, being mainly inspired by the form of a human body. In my art, I try to combine the old with the new. One of my exhibitions is called "Lapidarium". The exhibition is the result of my interest in damaged ancient sculpture. This collection of broken pieces and sculptures becomes a place of fulfilled whole. The same is true for human life composed of seemingly random events. They may seem random at first but then, we actually notice that they make up a whole story of our lives that we create. Apart from making sculpture, I also paint icons and panels that refer to the illuminations of medieval manuscripts largely based on sacred geometry. My passion for art has always been accompanied by my interest in spirituality. In 1998 I began to study the writings of the fathers of the desert. I was particularly interested in texts indicating the heart as the most important organ in the human body. These readings introduced me to the path of meditation which meant leaving the mind and entering the heart space. Since then I have been practicing and teaching this form of meditation combining it with the practice of mindfulness. In the following years under the influence of Greg Braden and Matthew Fox’s books I became interested in the combination of science, spirituality and faith. Starting with the theory that everything that exists, is a part of one God. Thus, it means that everything must be connected in some way, to be able to create one whole. I have been looking for answers how this combination is revealed and what opportunities it gives us. I found my answers in the Bible, the teachings of bhakti-yoga and in quantum physics, which is just seemingly distant from the first two.
