Broke Down on the Pablo Sculpture

Any place you have never visited only exists in your imagination. These maps are meant to inspire viewers to imagine mysterious, magical and unknown regions just as ancient maps often referenced places, lands, continents and other realms that do not exist at least not that we are aware of. Places like Atlantis, which was apparently a joke Plato made one day or the mythical lost continent of Lemuria. The maps were inspired by South Sea island stick maps. The islanders make detailed and extensive coconut palm fronds maps of ocean currents which are phenomena rather than geographic places. They do not carry these maps with them instead, they use them as memorization aids, turning physical maps into mental maps they can carry as they navigate.
