About The Artwork
Inspiration for the Library Box: There is always a poignant nostalgia that comes with thinking about my childhood and the books and stories I was exposed to at that time. I wanted to create that feeling of sweetness and light through a maternal or nurturing figure (whether mother or sister or babysitter) reading to a child before bed but seen from the child's point of view. The fantastic language and stories being told transform her billowing hair on the blankets into a rainbow of bright color emanating joy and love. Favorite book from childhood: A three way tie between The Giving Tree, James and the Giant Peach, and Where the Wild Things Are
