About The Artwork

The egg symbolises creation of life itself. Both halves of the sculpture fit into one another and form an egg. The two bronze halves are placed separately, each on their own base. The two sculptures form the complete artwork. Inspiration: Designed for twins, separate yet intertwined lives. Technique: Lost wax method.

--- “Art is born where hands, wax and emotion come together” ---- I was born in Maastricht, Netherlands and grew up in the bronze green hills in the south of Limburg. Love for Limburg, love for nature and love for bronze. In 2008 I started training to create bronze sculptures with the artist Louis Wierts. It was there that I experienced the possibility of converting an idea in my head to a tangible sculpture. I have trained in Louis Wierts’s atelier for three years to develop my own signature style in wax. At Bronsgieterij Custers I have further broadened my creativity. I am familiar with all the required steps to turn a wax sculpture into a bronze artwork. From wax to bronze is a labour intensive process with many steps. My sculptures are cast using the “cire perdue” (“lost wax”) method in a number of artisanal foundries in Limburg. I hope to evoke emotion through my sculptures. Whether because of the artwork itself, because of the story behind it, or both. I truly enjoy sculpting connections with my passion for bronze.
