Public Invited to the Hollywood Sculpture Garden to Meet Artists from Mexico on November 9! The public is invited to the Hollywood Sculpture Garden and Gallery (HSGG) on Wednesday, November 9th at 7pm to see a special presentation by artists from Rosarito Mexico as part of the Cross-Cultural Arts Exchange (CCAE) . Artist Robby Rami Gordon, founder of the HSGG recently formed a partnership with Gretchen Smith of ARThouse Rosarito and Leobardo Sarabia and Ricardo Orozco of Centro Estatal de las Artes Unidad Rosarito (CEART), the state run arts agency in Baja California, to set up a bi-national cultural exchange between artists in Hollywood and Baja Mexico. CCAE is designed to give artists living and working in Baja the opportunity to exhibit their art and travel to Hollywood where they will be presented as feature artists. Additionally, in the future, artists from the United States will be given the opportunity to exhibit their work at the brand new multi-million dollar art center (CEART-Playas de Rosarito) built by the State of Baja California and located just 45 minutes south of the San Diego Border. The first exhibit in Hollywood will feature original sculptures by artists from Mexico including Aida M. Valencia, Ermanno Scalas, Julio Rodriguez and a special presentation of a sculpture by Gretchen Smith created with the help of the children at Casa Hogar Jazmin Elizabeth, a children’s home in Rosarito serving disadvantaged youth. There will be more than 50 additional sculptures on display by additional artists including Robby Gordon, Angel IronMan, Ed Hart, Brian Carlson, Shogi, George Dominguez, Selena Pasetta, Bruce Bermudez, Paul Lindhard, Ernest and Lois Rich, Hugo Heredia Barrera, Kyle Alexander, Jo Hernandez, Jim Heltslay, John Rinaldi, Winston Kingstorm, Joseph De Stefano, Joan Carl. There public reception is Wednesday November 9 at 7pm at the Hollywood Sculpture Garden and Gallery, 2430 Vasanta Way, Hollywood CA 90068. A portion of the proceeds from art sales will benefit Casa Hogar Jazmin Elizabeth and go into their matching grant fund. Free to the public. Gretchen M. Smith is an American Artist born in 1972 in Muskegon Michigan and has been producing work professionally for over 20 years. She is the founder of the Christian Art Center and active in several national faith based initiatives related to the arts. In 1997 she went to Kenya and Tanzania Africa and did her first community murals. In 2001 she moved to the middle east and coordinated projects in United Arab Emirates. In 2004. After experiencing 4 hurricanes in Florida, she relocated to Paducah, KY to participate in the Artist Relocation Program which received awards from Unesco Creative Cities Program. In 2013 she moved to Rosarito Mexico where she ran ARThouse Rosarito, an extremely difficult artist-in-residence program. In 2017 she moved to Belize Central America where she currently runs a guest house and does online ministry through facebook to a primary reach of 4500 people and an extended reach of 100000. She focuses on equipping and training up artistic prophets and pastors, particularly in high risk areas such as Africa, Mexico and Belize. Her current artistic focus is writing. Typically her work is categorized as abstract expressionist paintings but she works in many media and basically follows God’s lead. She has has worked on installations and group projects exploring the dynamics of the human interactions of the artists participating in the projects. She seeks to exhibit her work in venues that encourage cultural and religious gaps to be bridged through faith-based abstract visual art. Ms.
