Sculpture, Spray Paint on Aluminium
Size: 7.9 W x 11.8 H x 3.9 D in
Ships in a Box
Unique sculpture by Norman Gekko. Using recycled tin cans to replicate the world famous Chanel N.5 perfume. For this sculpture the base materials remain mostly unpainted and in their natural (raw) state. Taken from the artist's "Distinguishing marques" series, which condenses a number of sociologically speaking concepts, including an attempt to re-appropriate the stigma of luxury iconography. The title - a play on the term "distinguishing marks" used by police to identify people - adds a satirical and dramatic dimension to the series.

France
Contemporary artist Norman Gekko delights in parodying the hypocrisy and excesses of western culture. Most often, Gekko produces multiple individual pieces of work as part of a series (inbred series, Beehives, Paper balls etc); willingly and enthusiastically generating new works with intensity, until exhausting both the subject and the artist.
