Crystal Face Sculpture

To create my work, I reside in the inter-relationship of logic and intuition. I evaluate the struggle of human existence through personal experience. I journey through my thoughts and emotions, dissecting interactions between bodies, aiding me in the creation of connections between the real, the surreal and the unreal. I see existence as an infinite amount of thin layers of thought superimposed onto each other. This theory eventually expresses the mess of moments that we are developed into, which I am most intrigued by. My deliberation of these ideas is the basis of my creations and establishes the materials that are chosen for them. Medium that carry auric qualities fascinate me (i.e. crystals, projections, organic shapes, fluid line work, translucent media and light). Juxtaposing them with more realistic and/or solid elements creates a shift in perspective and gives life to new narratives. Narratives that can now tell a new story and form new life. I make my work to liberate myself from thought and emotion in hope that the imagery presented can create new stories, new mental frameworks and balance.
