I had returned to the studio in 2011 creating a body of work that was very linear and erect. In 2014 I decided to become a licensed Zumba instructor, in addition to my many other hats I wear. At this time, my work started to open up more, and the linear lines gave way to more movement. When this particular piece was complete, I had just watched an episode of Anthony Bourdain's "Parts Unknown" when he visits Spain. Bourdain's flamenco experiences had an impact on me, and this is where I heard the phrase "El Duende". This is how this sculpture had evolved into completion.
