Fly away. Technique: Welded sculpture made of iron and stainless steel. The woman is made of sheet iron, while the butterfly is made of stainless steel. The sculpture has been polished to remove the welding patina. A transparent rust preventer paint and some beeswax have been applied on the surface. Interior scuplture Meaning: Symbol of transformation and growth, the butterfly (from a crawling caterpillar, to larva, and finally soaring butterfly) gently rests on the woman’s hand, who, while walking, is looking at it and seems to question it to know if it can fly, begin and accomplish its own transformation. They can share part of the path, but at one point each of them will take their own and fly away alone. Summurizing: Material→ iron and stainless steel Dimensions→110x50x30 cm Weight→20 Kg * Comes with certificate of authenticity signed by Federico Molinaro. * Note: For any commissioned artworks, please contact Saatchi art team to contact the artist email to: info@federicomolinaro.com

In all my sculptures I always try to convey the feeling of motion, lightness, suppleness, three features in sharp contrast with the rigidity and the heaviness of the materials used, such as iron and steel. The motion is conveyed by the action or the shape which should be winding, never stiff. The suppleness comes from the peculiar working technique: the iron, all riddled with holes, allows you to glimpse at the backside, communicating a feeling of “passing through
