About The Artwork
This work was created as a mode of research. I wanted to use the art as a means of discovering the affects of light on art, as part of my project to test LED lights in a gallery setting. LEDs are a more sustainable and eco-friendly option, and the sculpture too echoes environmental cognizance. Made from freestanding pieces of bamboo, collected by the artist by hand with only a handsaw as a tool, the work has little to no environmental impact. In the Eastern United States, where this piece was made, Bamboo is an invasive species.
