About The Artwork

This figurative sculpture has been created from one whole 12" vinyl music record (Bananarama, "The Bananarama Mega-Mix"), and mounted upon a 10.5 x 7 x 7cm black wood block with blue perspex that resembles half of a heart shape. The liquid-like form has been created using various heat sources. The modern materials maintain a fine art aesthetic. Each figurative, contemporary sculpture from the "REmuse" series is sculpted from one whole 7" or 12" vinyl record, with nothing added and nothing removed from the original material - function becomes form.

Sculptures created from whole vinyl music records... nothing added and nothing removed from the original material. The abstract, figurative forms are organic in their conception, with the vinyl having a life of its own upon heating. I pair the final sculptures with modern, geometric materials such as perspex and acrylic - the hard solids contrasting with the solidified, liquid lava appearance of the vinyl. The figures recline, dance and become caught in a movement that was previously evoked from the playing of the records themselves.
