About The Artwork

My strongest inspiration comes from Mother Nature and its weathering influences on the shape of trees, rocks, plants and animals both on land and underwater. Every ceramic piece is filled with my positive energy energy and creative spirit. Handmade ceramics are always more than just tableware or décor. It is a creative process of transforming a ball of clay into an object of art. My ceramic vessels are simple and elegant but they are bold at the same time. They are beautiful accents to any home décor. Most of my pieces are not formal rather natural organic forms with imperfections which make them look more unique. I love experimenting with surface textures. This is my new experimental raku technique. This horsehair raku vessel is created using a unique firing process. The piece is thrown on the wheel and altered. The terra sigillata mixed with minerals applied in a few coats to bone dry clay and then burnished creating very smooth surface. The vessel is bisque fired and then fired again at raku kiln. While it slightly cools down, horse hair and a natural feathers were placed on the surface, igniting and leaving black carbon designs on the surface. The mineral gave a blue luster and subtle sheen that emanated from within the clay. The smoke initiated a chemical process pulling vibrant iridescent luster to the surface. The last stage was applying Ferric Chloride. Depending on the temperature of the vessel the colors might range from pewter/dark brown to orange and gold.

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

My strongest inspiration comes from Mother nature and its influences on the shape of plants and animals, trees and rocks, both on land and underwater. New techniques and forms continually stimulate my interest in clay. The process of integrating various media with clay, like metal wire, stones, sand and wood to create dynamics has a great appeal to me. It is fascinating to take something essentially flat and turn it into organic form with volume creating a synergy between layered color, texture and movement. My favorite firing method is raku but I also use high fire with reduction process and oxidation process.
