Tyra Johnson is a self taught multi-disciplinary artist. She began her artistic journey with mixed media painting and developed a passion for sculpture, interior design, and architecture. In 2019, she chose to focus her efforts on sculpture and architecture.
Tyra minimizes color and overall materials to lessen the environmental impact of her work. She is most fulfilled and inspired when spending time in nature. The geography and topography of her travels as a military child and later into adulthood heavily influence her work. She explores fixed ideals of human existence expressed through natural forms to challenge ingrained perspectives.
