I Found My Dad’s Old Lacrosse Stick In My Grandparents' Barn Sculpture

I reproduced a traditional Shaker drop-leaf table, but fill the drawer with silicone rubber and my father's old lacrosse stick. A bicycle wheel from a bicycle that was gifted to me props up the drawer, an ode to the grandfather of found object sculpture. I make forms around found objects that often hang from traditional American Shaker pegs, or in this case simply reference the furniture of the Shakers. The Shakers believe in the transcendent capabilities of handmade objects, and that is at the core of this work.
