Interference Drawing 02 Sculpture

A series of digital prototyping tests which sought to blur the boundaries between 2D & 3D information formed the basis of this sculptural work that began in a studio at the AA School of Architecture, in 2009. Rigorous development of interference drawings, which merge drawings from two or more unrelated disciplines and create compositions in their self-referential logic, were combined with various methods of digital fabrication processes to manufacture the pieces. The outcome questions the way one views a drawing as the pieces create a multi-dimensional reading of the resultant compositions. The depth of these drawings become as important as their height and width as the drawing is translated into a new dimension questioning void and filled outlines, positive and negative space
