The work Jerusalem Boulevard, Jaffa, relates the effects that the passage of time had had on the street throughout the years. The buildings adorning the street in my work were taken from different periods: Past – Zaki Khalaf House, Alhambra Theater, palm trees planted at the inauguration of the boulevard and the fountain. Present – houses number 1 and 11 Future – the restoration studio renovation proposal for the Alhambra Theater's façade. The strata of time are intertwined, as if forming a reality depicting vernacular architecture. The image of the street is constructed of hand-cut layers of wood veneer. In the upper half the depiction of the houses is accurate and meticulous compared with the abstraction formed out of the wood's natural fragility at the bottom half of the work. The work is mounted at some distance from the wall, giving a sense of floating, hovering above ground, as an object lacking a solid base or roots, planted up in the air due to its lack of belonging to any time or place.
