About The Artwork
Unique, hand made, laminated, carved and polished birch plywood kangaroo toy. An adorable, mechanical Push pull toy operated by a simple eccentric cam and follower mechanism located secretly in the underside. Push or pull her along to make the head and tail oscillate. The legs mimic a big jumping action as she moves. The kinetic motion causes the head to nod and the front paws to swing freely. She makes a beautiful mechanical racket as she's pushed along. A handle is conveniently located in the top to operate her .

Mike Screen was born in 1964 in Wales and has lived near Portsmouth for the past 20 years. He went to the Gwent College of Higher Education to study for a Foundation Course in Art and Design before going to South Glamorgan Institute of Higher Education where he got a BA (Hons) in Fine Art and Sculpture. Later, he moved to Sheffield and got a Post Graduate Certificate in Education, specialised in Craft Design and Technology at City Polytechnic. Naturally hugely creative, Mike is now taking a break from Education and spending all his spare time painting and drawing. He has recently developed a deep interest in nautical art, and is currently working on a portfolio based on studies of decaying and abandoned ships and boats.
