This wonderful piece is the creation of artist R. Mani. What perfected, smooth and organic detail crafted in Sandstone. Adorned with beautiful jewels that accentuate her body. Titled the Khajuraho Lady after the famous sculptures in Khajuraho temples in India. The temples in which depict similar styles of voluptuous beautiful women. Considered to be a celebration of womanhood, sculptures of this style represent the pinnacle of passion and love. Not to be worshipped as ideal, but rather to embrace feminine beauty and the power of female energy. Female figures, play a pivotal role in ancient Indian sculpture. Such figures are often found decorating gates, panels and murals of ancient Indian temples such as the Khajuraho temple. In India, female sculptures pay tribute to the physical and divine beauty of women, their feminine energy and sensuality. Such images of women are symbolic of fertility and abundance of life. For this reason the female body was celebrated across ancient Indian art and architecture. PS: With all hand made stone and wood sculptures, there might be some natural erosion with cracks and spots, but that adds to the one of a kind pieces that we sell here at Mystik River.
