Le Berceau des Extrêmes Sculpture

This work that I named "The Cradle of Extremes" represents a ghost boat but also a cradle, because a boat also makes me think of a cradle (it pitches on the water just like the cradle rocks). So I made the link between the ocean, the moon and childhood by integrating the lullaby "Au Clair de lune". There is therefore in this work a whole link to the ocean and to piracy (the ghost ship, the moon just above with the stars like a musical mobile for babies above a cradle or Perrot on the moon above above a boat, dolls that have become mermaids, etc.). The Chimera represented is a mixture of insects and various nocturnal and mystical animals that I invented (mixture of snake, Bombyx butterfly, abyssal anglerfish and bee), this kind of creature is therefore reminiscent of those found in ancient marine and pirate myths. She intertwines the dolls with her tentacles like a Kraken to suffocate them, torture them and like the Bombyx silkworm weaver, she pricks them with her needles to make Voodoo dolls and transform them into aquatic creatures, mermaids . Her goal is not to hurt them in order to destroy them, she only seeks thereby to help them by transforming them into authentic and deep chimeras contrary to what they were at the base, plastic, superficial Barbie dolls, and simple consumer goods. She transforms the dolls by adding crustacean claws to them and remodeling them in her own way and manages to make them unique and special because for her femininity is not to seek perfection at all costs but to aim for one's own depth of beauty. soul and therefore to go towards its own internal lunar energy (this is why I painted them in white like the color of the moon, also to contrast with the darker Chimera representing the night and the abyss).
