Sculpture, Metal on Bronze
Size: 13 W x 13.4 H x 6.7 D in
Ships in a Crate
This sculpture was inspired by Pompeii frescoes, a Roman heritage which offers a vivid image of people's life in those times. The respect for women was very high in Roman society, and the representation of the female body, as in the Greek culture, was idealized following a beauty canon. Nowadays, we see on the one side the commercialization of the female body, and, on the other, the mortification of femininity. This sculpture is a call to women, to be proud of their genuine beauty. The sculpture here represented in pictures is n°1 of a limited series of only 3 pieces (#1/3) in bronze. It has been poured in bronze in Fonderia Artistica Mapelli in October 2018 (Milan, Italy).
