My work privileges the gesture, the process, the materiality. The ambient surplus of visual and verbal information encourages me to propose a practice that is based on instinct and whose exchange is on a physical and emotional level rather than an intellectual one. Before the word there is perception. Preferring natural materials (coal, earth, pigments, stones, gold, vegetable matter) my works reveal the expressive possibilities of the material and are part of a tangible reality. Each element is chosen for its singularity, its intrinsic beauty and its visual presence. The resulting narrative is personal to each artist and is not imposed from the beginning. Roughness is sought in that it reflects the living, natural and mineral world. The reduction of the aesthetic vocabulary coincides with the desire to free oneself from too much individuality and to go towards a certain sobriety and humility.
