Sculpture, Clay on Wood

This artwork represents the constant fight (as we precept it) and union of opposites, the fight of rational mind and irrational intuitive primordial subconscious. The initial biomorphic figures were partly inspired by Hilma af Klint abstract paintings. The silver "triangles" are splinters of our mind, our rigid mental constructs. I tried to transmit the airy nature of the subject and dynamics of fragments breaking apart. The sharp cutting edges and the shatters gaining pace. And just near them some slower biomorphic forms spring and come to light. They are metaphor for our energy, intuition and thirst for life. The artwork is made of artist synthetic clay and gels, and painted with acrylics. The splinters are aluminum "silver" leafs. The background is painted with thick acrylics and has some brush texture.

I do like exploring global and fundamental concepts of existence and their manifestation in our present being. I am inspired by philosophy, metaphysics, human history and culture. I'm also interested in our new way of reality such as the new digital reality and it's relation and interaction with our physical reality. The virtual reality is becoming more and more real and there is a parallel with Eastern philosophies' consept of Maya, the illusion of this world. I am fascinated with the idea of subconscious effect of the art and I like exploring the ways of the impact. As of now I tend to minimalistic forms of expression, reducing the artworks to basic shapes and colors. I am inspired by really different forms of art and culture of various styles and times. But as of now one of my major sources of inspiration is abstract art of the beginning of the 20th century - Kandinsky, Hilma af Klint, Malevich, Piet Mondriaan, Paul Klee, Franz Marc. And abstract expressionism artists - Mark Rothko, Barnett Newman, Cy Twombly, Lee Krasner.
