Mika Strechimg Sculpture - Limited Edition of 5

I sculpted Mika in clay, and had it cast in bronze. I took the mold to the studio and wanted to make a more "direct" cast. I poured polymeric plaster and for the first time the cast wasn't whole. I was intrigued. I took a small branch to support the half-cast leg. Then I remembered I once read about Japanese ceramic artists who, when a porcelain ware is broken, mend it and gild the crack. I found this approach conveyed it to my imperfect cast, glorifying the fault in a way. Since the first incidental one I started a series of "imperfect" casts.
