Derek walker using the iconic builders mug of tea as an artefact for the importance of being British. The idea of the steaming white chipped mug of steaming hot tea conjures up ideas of colonialism and the class system. Tea blurs the lines between upper and lower, institution, privilege and the underdog. A 'nice cup of tea ' is a cultural keystone that we are told can cure all of life's ills. Benign envy is always about a potential gain whereas jealously is about a potential loss’. Of course we don’t feel that success of these artists is undeserved.
