About The Artwork
In a place like Mykonos, a variety of influences pushed me to create this piece. One was the idylic setting, the rocky islands jutting up out of a sometimes rough sea, with all the legends from the past wrapped around them. This timeless place was also very much tied to the present, with a large gay community among whom I have many friends. Walking down the narrow streets, you are constantly running into a variety of sexual orientations ranging from the indiscernable to the ostentatious. The atmosphere permeated my work, and led to the production of a piece I never could have made anywhere else.
