This piece comes box framed with glass, framed in a white wooden frame.
I like creating geometrical patterns through various mediums. I like them to be precise in terms of their shape and construction. Using threads and nails has been one of the many creative ways I could use to make geometrical shapes and have fun with them. Each nail is hammered individually and then I weave the threads through the nails by hand until I get the desired shape and its placement onto the framed wall sculpture. As the hands move from one nail to another, the thread interweaves and creates complex geometrical patterns. Its a meditative, calculative process which create a beautiful intricate geometric patterns. Around 250 yards of thread is used in this artwork. The plywood in the background is painted with acrylic paint.

A self-taught multi-disciplinary artist, Sumit Mehndiratta thrives in the art industry on the basis of his passion for experimenting with a diverse range of mediums which makes him a prolific artist. He has worked with online art galleries and exhibited his works, both group and solo shows across the UK, UAE, Japan, Italy, China and India. He has also worked on several projects in the US, UK and UAE. With a focus on nature and abstraction, his works are a visual feast that provokes individualistic interpretations. Sumit’s art transcends traditional media, incorporating everything from canvas and digital art to mixed media and wall sculptures. His unique tools and painting techniques emphasise a broader ethic: art as an ever-changing and always enjoyable journey. Describing his style of work, the Delhi-based artist avers, “My main genre of work is nature and abstraction, which is prominent in most of my works. I love abstraction and how everyone perceives it differently. An interpretation of an abstract artwork is a unique insight to a person’s psyche which is intriguing to know.” Sumit works aren't restricted to one style or medium of work. His works range from generic mediums such as canvas and paper to experimental mediums like digital art, mixed media and wall sculptures. His studio has such a wide variety of art materials that when he is making a piece, he grabs something around that he can see and work into the art piece and ends up making it with various mediums on it. Sumit claims to have been experimental since childhood. Be it drawing, sketching, cooking, painting or photography, he always liked to do something no one has ever thought of, by adding his flair to the task. To achieve this, Sumit creates his own painting tools to go with the techniques he thinks of. “I usually discover different techniques to paint and construct my own tools to put the ideas into action. I pick up a theme and make a series of paintings on them. When the technique gets repetitive, I wait for another inspiration to strike, and I move onto the next series,” professes Sumit. He does not have any single ‘patented style’ as he terms it to be mere repetition which depletes creativity.
