The work, of 2017, in Siena yellow marble, is part of my research that investigates and develops the synthesis between the form present in the natural and animal world. The form, suggested by the anatomical study of the human body, draws inspiration from this to become something else, doesn't wanto be imitation but elaboration of a concept of nature that ranges and connects to multiple known worlds. My aim is to create a gap between what is known and what is represented by leading the viewer to recognize certain family characteristics, but not to be able to give him a real place. In the specific, the work wants to remember with its vertical sinuousness a growing natural element from which cells, seeds, symbolic and real representations of vital development spring. Cells integrate and part of the form, becoming dominant elements among the formal compositional elements of the work. The critic P.Colacitti writes: (...) Antonella is aware that the image is in the mind of the artist and that she can not make any mistakes. He chose the most difficult material. (...) He chooses a style that reduces to the essential minimalism the human figure with a mental geometry of poetic impact, in a harmonious dualism man-nature. Man's backs, hugs, solitary poses and inverted fragments, nature branches and leaves, tree trunks and woods reduced to spontaneous games devoid of any ornament. Antonella assimilates Cubist geometry and futurist dynamism for an unrealistic and anticlassical figuration, sublimated by the mind to the limit of abstractism (...) Antonella Gerbi Born in 1976, she graduates in Graphic Design in 1995 and attends sculpture classes in Pietrasanta (LU) held by the Master Cesare Riva. In 1999 she graduates in Conservation and Restoration in Venice where she opens a sculpture studio together with the Master Renato Mari. In 2007 she graduates in Sculpture at Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan and in 2008 she attains a master degree in Visual Arts and teaching. In 2009 she undergoes a training journey on international sculpture through America and New Zealand. Her artistic research develops around the concept of impermanence that surrounds us, investigated through observation of everyday things and their evolution, growth and passing. Since 1997, when she won the Viviani award for Sculpture in Nova Milanese, she has strictly committed herself to her artistic career by promoting her works and taking part in numerous exhibitions, symposia and events in Italy and abroad.
