Nostalgia I Sculpture

This work is inspired by the oil lamps used in earlier time. Everyone may have a memory about it, I have too. As a child when we used to visit our farm in vacations this was one of the thing that fascinated me. The subtle light of brass lamp and the stories exchanged in the light of it are have a strong impression on me. One could relate to it as he may have experienced it. The form here depicts the space kept in wall specially in earlier architecture of indian houses,known as 'Dewali' in marathi which is used to put a lamp. Over the time the lamp has vanished and so as the Dewali. It is a representation of my nostalgia.
