About The Artwork

Stirred by the 2013 Mayflower oil spill, when the Pegasus Pipeline ruptured in Mayflower, Arkansas in a suburban neighborhood, releasing about 3,190 barrels of oil, much of which ran like a river down the neighborhood streets. Since 1986 pipeline accidents have spilled more than 3 million gallons, an average of 200 barrels every day. As of March 20, 2020, there have been 25 oil spills in the US just in 2020, according to the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Made of needle felted wool and acrylic fiber.
