About The Artwork
This sculptural wall art was created using individual pieces of polypropylene string wrapped over a timber substrata. The process of making is a form of conscious, open-eyed meditation starting with no preconceived ideas of the outcome. My interest in the process of giving. The genuine joy and thoughtfulness that might be imbued into the packaging by the giver and how this may be received by the recipient. On a conceptual level I explore the idea of concealment and beauty in advertising to create desire.

As a multi-process visual artist I explore the ideas of presentation and packaging in a historical, cultural and commercial context using concealment and optical devices to engage the viewer and challenge optical assumptions. I work with plastics, polycarbonates, natural and synthetic fibres, printer inks on emulsion and natural substrata using various processes like wrapping, binding, dripping and staining to create form, depth and surfaces of visual topography. I am also interested in the role colour, light and varying mediums play in creating allure and desire to see what lies within.
