"Ottorino" Sculpture

The sculpture “Ottorino” is named for Ottorino Respighi, as you may have guessed. The name came to me after the piece itself recalled images of old walls/buildings seen in Italy, with their not-so regular archways and windows. I might have easily named it “Don’t Look Now” after the DuMaurier story, but it’s simply not that dark. This piece is more sculptural than painting, with tiny figures covered in pattern paper and balconies formed from old swimming pool liner and coffee tins. The house numbers and fragments of old type plaster the walls, reminiscent of ripped posters announcing bygone circuses or political rallies. Note that the dimensions of this painting are approximate. As the wood I find and use is rarely square, framing this work would be a true challenge.
