The emblematic serpent of ancient Egypt and Greece represented with its tail in its mouth, continually devouring itself and being reborn from itself. A gnostic and alchemical symbol, Ouroboros expresses the unity of all things, material and spiritual, which never disappear but perpetually change form in an eternal cycle of destruction and re-creation.

Unique sculpture made from hand curved steel, over layered with brass plate, then beaten back to create a horn like texture. Custom made glass globs embellish the spine, hand forged tail spike and a forced patina on the outer skin. finished in a bees wax polish.

The sculpture sits in a custom made base.

As an artist and sculptor I am interested in the form of a structure, the material and its texture. I work mostly in steel, ferrous and non ferrous metals, combining them to produce various sized structures and forms that convey the chosen subject matter in an exaggerated or morphed fashion. The process in which the sculpture is produced is an important factor for me, the various incarnations a piece may go through before I am satisfied, the resistance of the material, problem solving and experimentation. The way to combine various metals, their physical possibilities and the oxidation and aging process are an on going journey in my work. As a lover of nature my personal work is focused mainly on the natural world and humanities relationship within it. My work aims to illuminate our disconnection from the natural world, the commodification of nature and the impact our species is having on this planet.
