Red Heart (2 EL) Sculpture

Handmade paper heart from gold-stamped white tissue. Insert cut-out heart is from fine Polish paper with red and white oak leaf motif. Insert is edged with scalloped white tissue paper. Insert heart is outlined with fine gold braid and gold metallic rhinestones. Cut-out is backed with gold-stamped organza. Hanger is gold gauze ribbon with large wooden bead. heart is edged with gold crepe. Back. Repeating mix of three papers: red paper with gold stars, red paper with gold hearts and gold paper. Overlay heart is from gold holographic paper. Lacquered. 24cm 2 x 25 cm h ca 4cm deep 61g 2.20oz with box 255g 9,05oz I began working with papier mache molds and making hearts as a result of shoulder fracture which ruptured nerves in shoulder into left hand. As howling at moon disturbs neighbors, it was a way to keep me silent but away from computer as lost entire use of left arm and hand. I've regained about 40% usage, but unable to close hand to grip and many basic things elude me. It was a way of converting agony into beauty.
