orange semi-translucent original stone carving of woman looking to heaven
For many years, Vasily has explored the connection between the human figure, architecture, and the land. Most of the LAND series of stone carvings he made during symposiums in Turkey and his native Ukraine. This much smaller composition is carved from a semi-translucent orange calcite, such a gorgeous stone! She is mounted on a black marble base, 'Red Land' weighs 13 pounds and ships from the Chicago, USA, area. Thank you for appreciating Vasily's art.

Born in 1950 in the province of Kobaky of Ivano-Frankivsk, Vasily spent his childhood surrounded by the beauty of the Carpathian Mountains. Member of the Union of Artists of Ukraine since 1982. As an invited guest to the Seattle 1990 Goodwill Games, he rest of his life as a professional sculptor. He was a member of the Union of Artists of Ukraine since 1982. As an invited guest to the Seattle 1990 Goodwill Games, Vasily created a stone sculpture "Exchange Vision" which today is a part of the permanent collection of the Washington State Historical Society in Tacoma. It was shortly after this event that he moved his family to the United States. Vasily always felt that the basic creativity and performance of the artist depends on the shape and components of the materials for sculpture: bronze, wood, clay and his greatest love - stone. Vasily's great skill is shown in his exquisite compositions. He confidently transformed his material, connecting realistic and abstract forms and showing off the natural beauty and detail of the stone itself.
