About The Artwork
This Sea Globe is currently a test run for some new work I am producing in my studio here on the west coast of Britain. Sea Globes are influenced by my coastal surroundings using natural discoveries as key drivers for creating contemporary, abstract and modern designs for my ceramics. This piece is made from fine bone china, with the clay sourced from Cornwall. I use precious metal lustres in my work to reflect the incredible light we experience here on the west coast. Unlike most of my work where the colours reflect the subtle hues of coastal living or dramatic land and seascapes in a abstract manner, this piece stands out and shouts its presence and wants to be heard against the wrath of the battered coastline.

Richard's work is influenced by the stunning coastal setting of his studio and the connection to its industrial past.
