About The Artwork
The work is founded upon my own spiritual ascension and is imbued by my personal the wounds of personal experiences of suffering and victory. For the tough heart and in the memory of those who died in faith. The rungs of the ladder symbolize our years. The ladder is spiritual ascension. The arrows are the troubles and tribulations that are inflicted by the world. The skull is death and the crucifix is cosmic glory. The cracks of the handle symbolize bodily wounds, which have been aurified by gold leaf, as well as the neck. This work had been accidentally toppled by a student, after which I bonded the wounds and applied gold leaf. Permanent and vitrified underglaze drawing with transparent glaze.
