Sculpture, Paper on Paper
Size: 7.7 W x 2.8 H x 11.8 D in
This sculpture was previously on show at WTS Gallery in Leicester as part of the Poison and Remedy Exhibition in November 2014 and won a prize. - Clay Sculpture - Plastic Syringe - Acrylic Paint - Wooden Twigs - 7 x 19.5 cm This piece has a symbolic personal connection to my daughter, as a baby she suffered from Febrile Seizures, a condition where children are plagued with high fevers. My piece is a response to the time I thought she was going to die and how life’s struggles affect human existence in general. Protecting my daughter from such ailments (the poisons of life) and the reference of medical syringes are the remedies that make us better or worse. The burnt nest portrays a sense of the temperatures my daughter would reach when suffering a seizure and the battle to keep her well.
