Each curve and fold of this sculpture suggests a process in motion, a body that is no longer what it was, yet not fully what it will become.

María Vallier is a visual artist based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Working across painting and sculpture, she explores organic forms inspired by the human body, where abstraction and figuration coexist.
Across both mediums, she is interested in the body as a space of expression—a place where tension, vulnerability, and inner states take form. Rather than representing the figure literally, her work seeks to evoke what lies beneath the surface: emotion, movement, memory, and transformation.
Each medium informs the other, allowing formal ideas to move freely between two and three dimensions. In sculpture, she works with plaster, marble, resin, and other materials, developing forms through modeling, carving, casting, and surface treatments that emphasize the tactile qualities of each piece. In painting, she approaches the surface intuitively, allowing gesture, texture, and color to guide the image.
Her practice is deeply rooted in material and process. Every piece carries the trace of its making, revealing a sensitivity to touch, time, balance, and light. Whether in two or three dimensions, Vallier’s work creates a dialogue between structure and fluidity, solidity and fragility, inviting a quiet yet powerful encounter with the human experience.
