About The Artwork

This sculpture can be understand in the context of a photo of nuclear explosion appearing in the times of India(Patna edition dt may 11,2005). In this photo the smoke and fire emanating from the explosion has stark resemblance to vairava with flaming hair - the fierce manifestation of shiva associated with annihilation as a warning to mankind. The analogy is quite apparent nuclear device will lead to the self destruction of the human race, as mankind lacks the power to recreate, whereas vairava is one who creates sustains and dissolves the three stages of life he is the ultimate or the supreme.
